Matt began his legal career with the South Dakota Attorney General's Office where he represented the State of South Dakota in criminal and civil matters and served as a legal advisor to various government agencies, boards, and commissions. He then spent time working in the insurance industry before opening Roby Law Office on April 1, 2015.

Matt was born and raised in Watertown, South Dakota. He attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and graduated with high honors, receiving a bachelor's degree in both Accounting and Economics. Following graduation, he moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota to attend the University of St. Thomas School of Law. After graduating law school, he decided to return to South Dakota to begin his legal career.

Matt and his wife Stefanie have two children, Bennett (2 1/2) and Griffin (7 mos.), and a Springer Spaniel named Truman. When he's not at the office, you'll find Matt spending time with family, keeping up with the latest political developments, traveling, golfing, reading, hunting, or enjoying all that Lake Kampeska, Watertown, and South Dakota have to offer. Matt is also an active member of various civic, fraternal, social, and religious organizations and the Roby family attends Immaculate Conception Church.
